blogger authorization failed

  • Today I was not able to Import blog posts from my Google Blogger account to WordPress. I have been doing this without problems until today. This is the error I get:

    Hi guys, I’m having the same problem. Didn’t figure it out, but did find a workaround. Google has a whole bunch of online conversion tools from/to different blog formats.

    First export your blogger blog (same as doing a backup) to an xml file on your local machine.

    Next go to Google’s blogger-to-wordpress converter web application, at
    https://blogger2wordpress.appspot.com/

    this app will convert your saved xml file to a wordpress wxr file, which you also save locally.

    Then in your wordpress dashboard, go to the import tool, and choose to import “from a wordpress export file”. Select the wxr file saved above.

    It worked! Who’da thunk.

    (Ravensong) worked brilliantly!!! thanks for saving my evening. I have 3 more “blogger-to-wordpress” conversions before this weeks blogger ftp deadline.

    Same issue here, and my server only allows uploads up to 2MB while my exported and converted WordPress xml file is 3.9MB. Anyone know if Blogger and/or WordPress are working on a fix for the direct import from Blogger to WP? Thanks.

    Thank you for the workaround, Ravensong, but I have the same problem as bagelradio. My (converted) file is much too large to import.

    Has anyone heard if either Blogger or WordPress has addressed this issue?

    Same exact issue and error message here. Would love to know of any progress being made on this – I’ll try the work-around suggested by Ravensong (thanks!) for now, but ultimately this is a weird glitch to pop up and I’d like to know that someone is working on it.

    same problem… my file is 3.5 MB.

    My hosting company said to upload it via phpAdmin in MySQL. (Never done that before, but I’ll give it a try!)

    Also, note to all. I attempted to use the converter that Ravensong recommended. When I opened the converted document in Chrome first, just out of curiosity, it was clear that the converter had spammed my content like crazy. The converter added in approx 150 posts of viagra advertisements and some other random blog. Not cool.

    I have had the same issue, everytime I run a xml file through blogger2wordpress, I get a mixed bag of posts from several authors… and many of the posts I’m looking for vanish.

    So as far as I can see, there is currently no viable option for importing a blogger blog into wordpress.

    I don’t even have a lot of posts to manage here, just 250 posts, without comments. There are a ton of embedded flash movies, as well as uploaded images.

    I’ve tried authorizing blogger to share info with wordpress on my own server, and receive no posts, no nothing. it just doesn’t do anything.

    I’ve tried converting from ftp to blogspot, then importing from a blogspot blog into a wordpress.com hosted blog, and I lose all attachments, even if I opt to download them.

    I’ve tried uploading the blogger xml file to a wordpress.com blog, and lose attachments.

    I’ve tried downloading the blogger xml, and running it through blogger2wordpress several times. Each time I get multiple blogs of content, but not all of my own… it DOES keep SOME of the attachments though.

    With blogger’s deadline looming, this is a serious issue. I really hope someone from wordpress notices this issue and supplies a working fix. For instance, why can’t I choose to upload the blogger xml file directly to my own server, the way I can on the wordpress.com hosted site? How can I keep the attachments?

    Thanks for sharing everybody. I’ve still not been able to find any information from either Blogger or WordPress’s Help pages.

    Yikes! One wonders how it is even possible to get posts from another blog! I guess oneredkey and I are just lucky this time. My client’s blog is pretty small, the files were under 200k, and no images.

    I also have a couple more to do, so I will keep my fingers crossed (to match my eyes at this point).

    Another quick-and-dirty I thought of is to switch from ftp to a blogspot blog, and then stick that into an iframe on the site. Not wild about it, but it should work, at least as a temporary kludge that keeps the site url intact while still allowing updates via the blogger dashboard.

    Lets hope WordPress stays wonderful for a good long time!

    I’m having the same problem.

    I’ve tried three different google accounts, two different comupters (with different OS’s), two different browsers – yet I still keep getting the AuthSub Token error.

    However, a friend has logged in from his PC with my account details and it worked for him with no problems.

    Weird.

    Ravensong’s workaround worked for me (I had about 1500 posts; the XML file was ~3MB). Thanks so much!

    This workaround worked for me but I had to use Chrome to get the file. Safari thought it was RSS for some reason.
