Blog Title and Slogan – Want to make disappear

you just need to re-arrange/remove <?php bloginfo('name'); ?> and <?php bloginfo('description'); ?> from your theme’s header.php file.

I was thinking of doing the same thing, but I was wondering wether this would in any way affect SEO or the way search engines see the site?

Leave the tags there, just edit your stylesheet to “display: none” for their class or id instead.

@handysolo: Good idea: In which css? I tried in the theme folder, but there was no effect…

Using your regular blog, as an example… Find this in the theme’s stylesheet:

h1, h1 a, h1 a:hover, h1 a:visited, #headerimg .description {
	text-decoration: none;
	color: white;
	}

Change it to:

h1, h1 a, h1 a:hover, h1 a:visited, #headerimg .description {
	text-decoration: none;
	color: white;
        display: none;
	}

@handysolo : What do you mean with “@Reinard – right now nothing’s there :-)”. It is not very much, but what I wanted to check was “no letters in the picture”…

@reinard: When I first checked your link, it was at the WP “no database” screen.

If you tried what I suggested, and are using the Default theme, be sure to clear the browser cache.

@handysolo: curious – because the site was/is always online.

I use “default_de” which schould be the same in css. And of course I cleaned the cache. I will try again.
