    Hi

Is it possible switch off the static front page and get the blog-style with all recent posts on the front page?

I love the default style with a thumbnail for recent posts, but need the option of blog style in case people I write the blog with want the more traditional homepage with all the sidebar stuff.

(already posted this on theme’s own forum but didn’t now best place to get answer).

    Thanks

  • Sorry, but this feature is not possible in sixteen. It supports only a grid type homepage.

    Hi

I know it’s not possible by default, but I was hoping it would be possible by editing the files. Have tried editing home.php and adding bits from the other .php files in the same folder, but can’t get it quite right.

You can always use a custom page as your homepage if you don’t want the thumbnails.
Create a page according to your need, then go to Settings > Reading, set it as Homepage.

    Many thanks

But it’s the look I’m trying to get. I thought it would be a simple matter of copying one of the blog-style pages, and renaming it home.php, then editing it as necessary. But when I do that, the text takes up the width of the page and the sidebar goes to the bottom and I’m having difficulty finding what controls that.

I would recommend you to create a file named page-[id].php where is the page id, and fill it up with the contents of home.php

I guess, that will help you the most.

    sorry?

Couldn’t quite follow that? Could you be more specific?

I made a new page called page-111, but couldn’t quite figure out how it helps.
