• Hello! So I am trying to make a wordpress site theme from scratch for the first time. It’s going alright so far with some help from tutorials. The current problem is getting the blog posts to show up on the blog page. I got it to work by using a “category” – such as site.com/category/blog but I want it to default to just site.com/blog. I have tried altering the reading settings within the dashboard by putting the posts page to “blog” but then it just comes up with a blank page. So there are posts being displayed properly with a category and URL of “blog” but it doesn’t work outside of that.

I hope I have described it accurately and thoroughly enough, but if more information is needed please ask! I am designing it locally at the moment with laragon.

    Thanks in advance!

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Twenty-One theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

Sorry for my late response and thanks for the ideas. I really have no plug ins yet. When I switched to a default theme it works fine. I know the problem is my theme because like I said I am trying it from scratch and not totally sure what I am doing. Is there a certain file I need to modify or create to get that functionality? I’m not using a child theme or anything. Does the code need to be in a blog.php file or something?

    Thanks again.
