I have an Ipage-hosted website using the sela theme at https://www.borderlandsoutdoor.com

I’ve recently added a blog to the site and made a first blog post. The post shows up under the ‘blog’ tab, and I’m able to link to the blog page, but not to the individual post. When I click on the post title and when I click ‘preview post’ in the editor, it takes me to an error page – page not found.

Any ideas how I can change this so that individual blog posts are searchable and can be linked rather than the entire blog page?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

Have you made changes since you posted yesterday?

I don’t see any posts here:

You’ll need to head to your Customizer’s Static Front Page panel and your Blog placeholder page as your Posts page.

Your blog posts should now be displayed on this page:

    https://www.borderlandsoutdoor.com/blog

If you’re still getting “not found” errors, try going to Settings > Permalinks and resaving your settings there without making any changes.

On your blog page, clicking any post title should bring you to the individual post’s page. You can then link to any of them individually.

    Hi, thanks for the replies.

I’ve tried deactivating plugins but that didn’t make any difference unfortunately.

There’s no content on the blog at the minute because I’ve reverted posts to drafts until I can sort it out. Should be viewable again now.

I’ve now been to the static front page panel and ‘blog’ was already set up as the posts page. The posts do appear on the blog page but are not available as separate pages

I’ve resaved the permalink settings but it’s still not working properly.

It’s odd, as some of your pages have pretty permalinks (i.e. 33-2/first-aid) but your blog post has a default permaklink (?page_id=42). It shouldn’t be a mix of both types – normally you have one or the other.

What is your page slug when you look at the post in the editor? Just above the post editor you’ll see the page URL. What does it show?

Here are some more troubleshooting steps:

    – Reinstall a fresh copy of the theme
    – If the problem persists, switch to a default theme like Twenty Sixteen temporarily. If the same issue is present there then it’s not a theme issue, and I would suggest you check your .htaccess file and make sure it’s correctly set up – as seen here – as this is where pretty permalinks are set. If you need further help with your .htaccess file, you can try posting in the general troubleshooting forum, as this forum is for Sela-specific theme issues only.

Thanks Kathryn, I think it’s sorted now. The permalink structure was set to custom. I’ve amended it and it seems to be working now.

Great, glad you’re set – I’ll mark this thread resolved.
