This is probably an easy fix, but I can’t seem to find it. I am using Decode theme. I want to change my single column Blog page to add a second column on the left and an archives menu listing past posts by month and year along with the title. I want to display 3 or 4 posts on the active blog page before they go to archives and are listed on the left. The link is https://lallabee.com/backstage/

Thank you very much for your help.

    Hello Scott,

If I understand it alright, you can activate the sidebar in Dashboard > Appearances > Customize at Sidebar Options and then add content via the same Appearances > Customize to Widgets > Sidebar.

Adding a sidebar to the content is not possible without extensive custom work, as far as my knowledge goes.

Thank you for replying! I found that if I turn on the sidebar this way they come on for every page in the site. I only want a sidebar on my blog page, and it should hold Recent Posts and Archives by month. Is there a way to choose the sidebar option for just one page in Decode? I have other sites with different themes that have a page template pull down on the right as you edit each page. Might there be a plugin that does this?

Thank you very much for your help.

    Hello Scott,

Can you please get this issue to [email protected] with more details?

It should be achievable to some extent via a CSS solution, where you can activate the sidebar and hide it everywhere expect the page where you want to use it or the other way, maybe force the sidebar to appear only on that specific page.

In order to have the page templates in the right panel you need to manually create the template in the theme files on the server. There might be plugins to deal with this but it’s over my knowledge.

    Regards
