I want to make my blog posts show up on a page I titled blog. I created the page and put that setting under reading but it is redirecting to the homepage every time. HELP!

It sound more like a setting issue rather than theme issue.

Try going to menu setting, delete the existing menu item called Blog, and then assign the newly created page called Blog.

I’ve already done that. . it says in another thread to use the template blog posts but my theme doesn’t even give me a template option under my pages.

There is no need for a theme to include a Blog page template, unless users want something special added to blog page.

We can have Blog page point to its own separate page other than front page.

Go to Administration > Settings > Reading panel

    and see setting details here
