Blog not showing right after 2.8 upgrade

I am having a problem after upgrading to 2.8
My site https://www.theplanetd.com shows a bit of text at the very top and that is throwing off the alignment of the site. It views ok in Safari but not in Firefox 3.0.11.
I have found that text in my home.php file and have deleted it but it has made no difference.
Also the visual editor does not work and when I try to create a new post I get this error in the custom fields section:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 80 bytes) in /home4/theplan1/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 930
I have already increased my memory in my php.ini file to 64mb

Any suggestions would really help.
