• The blog in question was once on a shared server and ran fine, about 18 months ago it was migrated to our own server and that is when it stopped being visible to search engines, as it stopped working I stopped using it.I now need to use it so need to get it sorted.

The blog has the same setting as 2 others on the server, these 2 run fine, ie, they seem to be cached within just a few minutes of posting.
I have checked robots file, it has a sitemap generator installed, the privacy setting in wordpress is set for world and search engines to view…running out of ideas…..whilst not a technie…do have some knowledge…

Does anyone have any ideas….could it be a setting in the database itself????

or another thought, where is the coding regarding the privacy setting that allows search engines to view, whilst it is set to allow, is the code correct???
Other than this it seems to work fine….

There are not many posts on the blog so would a good idea be to remove wordpress completly and delete the database and start again?

Any thoughts would be very kind.
    Thanks.

  • What’s the URL (or the <head> code)?

    What is your website url?

I have also checked in Webmaster Tools, it would appeat that Google Bot can access the page and see it……but still the pages are not being cached in any search engine……very odd..

    Any thoughts anyone please…

There’s nothing wrong in the page source code or the sitemap.xml file.

Thank you for your effort to reply esmi, that is what I find odd, I have 2 other domains with blogs on the same server and both of the others run the same settings and work fine, if I add a post it is able to be found in organic search in around 5 minutes, but not on this domain.

Originaly this domain was on a shared server and worked fine, it stopeped working when I migrated it to our own dedicated one.

I am running out of ideas, keep flicking back and forth between this and the others but cant find anyting obvious, I am thinking something happened during the move, some kind of corruption.

I dont have a probelm loosing the old posts as there is only a few, so what about deleting the database and also wordpress and start again…

    Once again thanks.

If there was a WordPress or database issue, the site wouldn’t work properly at all. As it is, it’s working very well. So, no, I don’t think it’s something that can be solved by a re-install. It might help if you linked the blog to the main site.

Have you had a look at the server access logs? Is Googlebot crawling the blog site?

Have you tried submitting the site to Google using their webmaster tools?
