• Hi All

I request some opinions on this – Is it always necessary that a blog site’s homepage should always have a recent posts display. I am talking about a typical blog and not a site of a brand or corporate that has a blog section as an addon.

What if I want to have a full screen image or video on my homepage and of course the blog in the menu section but no recent posts anywhere in the homepage. Will this adversely affect the SEO and will result in lesser number of visits to the blog. Do visitors prefer recent posts on the home page.

It will be great if someone can show an example of a blog site that does not show posts on the homepage.

    Thanks
    Manish

No, it’s not necessary. As to what visitors prefer, that’s something you should ask friends and colleagues to review. IMHO, if you have a good homepage that generates interest in what you’ve written, then you can give them a link over to the blog.

But, for most “this is just a blog sites”, the common practice is to make the home page a list of the most recent posts.

You can try it both ways and see what happens.

    thanks for your reply

You can set the home page to static.. have your full screen image or video or whatever on there.
Then you can set your blog page be a list of posts.
Just link to it from the home page.
