• Hi

I keep going round in circles with this and am sure its an easy fix.

All my pages, posts and news have H1 and H2 tags except this page which is the menu holding page that contains all my posts if that makes sense.

When I run a check it states this page has no H1 tag.

However when I try to edit the page in elementor to add an H1 heading it does not allow me access. I can only access the edit page and this does not give me the ability to add headings.

IS there a default page where these posts are held that would allow me to fix

I hope that explains it and I hope even more someone can help.

    Many thanks

    Rupert

  • Typically, it will be rendered in your archive.php file, or it could be blog.php, or content – however it can vary theme to theme. Install this and it will give you a clue as to the template you are accessing:

    Thank you for your reply

OK I have done that. When I am on the page in question the result is

    WordPress Template Hierarchy /var/www/web/wp-content/themes/astra/index.php`

I am a bit of a novice when it comes to the technical stuff so in order to address the issue of H1 tag on this Blog page what do you now suggest ?

If you are not very experienced, and since you are already using Elementor, it would be better to use a different approach.

Just add a new page called Blog, then use the Elementor layout builder to design, and set the blog index page under Admin –> Settings –> Readinbg –> Blog page.

Otherwsie, you will need to edit the layout template and include an H1 tag.

    Thank you again.

I have now if you look at the website set up a PAGE for the blog and all looks fine HOWEVER….

    https://www.justonefortheroad.com/blog/

If I do as you suggest re the Admin –> Settings –> Reading –> Blog page then the page reverts back to the previous design?

i am happy just to not carry out this Reading task BUT how important is it and does that cause me any issues if I do not do it ?

    Rupert

    How important is what?

Make sure you name your new Blog Page something obvious so you can select it in Admin –> Settings –> Readinbg –> Blog page.

Please delete or deactivate your cache while you are still in development and testing etc. Your results may not be consistent, and it makes it difficult to troubleshoot, etc.

If I carry out the step you suggest to go into admin/settings/Reading /Blog page and select the posts drop down to attach to the new blog page it then changes my page which currently looks fine and reverts it to the old version which I have deleted. Very strange.

    i have cleared the cache.

My question is it important is if I do not carry out this suggestion as the page is fine now as it is and has the H1 so I am happy. I just wanted to make sure that if I do not carry out this admin/settings/Reading change it does not cause me any potential problems by not assigning the posts to a page?

    Hope I am making sense

    Seems to good to me.
The URL probably changes bc WordPress uses something called ‘transient urls’ and manages the redirects for you – see here:
    https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-manage-and-delete-transients-in-wordpress/

You can see it listed as /blog here:
