Blog doesn’t display properly in IE

I’m very new to WP, but managed to set up my blog, my default browser is FF. Everything went well until I got a complaint from someone using IE. I was shocked to find that while the blog looks as it should in FF and Opera it looks totally off in IE 7.

I would have expected that WP would work in the most popular browser so I didn’t even think to check.

Is there a quick fix for this?

I’m using WP v. 2.7, and latest versions of browsers mentioned.

A quick response would be appreciated as the blog is dealing with sensitive issues and if the problem can not be fixed in a timely manner I will need to find another solution.
