    Blog link

Help, please? Last night, just after I published a post, my blog’s homepage failed to load, though I could still access older posts from the comments link on the side. When I looked from my dashboard, though, no posts came up, though the post counts were still accurate. All my pages were still there, too. This morning, the whole thing is gone. Does anybody know what happened? And how to fix it? My blog is at https://www.cooperfamilyfarm.com/fbp

    Thank you in advance,
    Jennie C.

  • I can see your blog. Are you still having trouble?

BTW, that top photo of the rooster is 7MB and took over a minute to load. You should resize it and get it down to a more reasonable file size.

Thanks. We called our hosting provider and they got it restored.

I’ve been experimenting with the pictures… If I use a smaller file, it shows up slightly blurry. If I use the bigger file, it takes forever to load.

I resized it in Photoshop to 635 pixels wide, just as it appears now (it is actually almost 4000 pixels wide), and it looks fine.

You would also want to lower the quality of the jpg, also, to reduce the file size as well as the image’s dimensions.

Are you still saving it as a jpg when you resize? JPGs compress well, usually. At 7MB that could crash the browser of some of your visitors.

Photoshop, huh? I’m afraid I can’t afford photoshop at this stage of my life. I’ve been working with the free Picasa, which doesn’t actually resize as far as I know. ?? I’ll look into it, though, and thank you for the advice!

There are websites that offer free image optimizing…

    try this one
