• Hi all,

This is my first post here and I’m hoping that it’s just a silly question that has a quick answer ??

I set up my first website about a month back using a theme I found via a recommended YouTube tutorial but I’ve come to realise that even though I have two blog posts, there are no comment boxes. Furthermore, the only time I can see the time of when the blog posts have been published is by looking in the URL, and I’ll get the data. I can’t see the author either – that’s less of a big deal right now as I’m the only author, but I’d really like the timestamp and comments.

Is anyone able to help, please? Thanks in advance ??

  • Hi..
Go to [Settings > DIscussion] in admin area.

Then check the box “Allow people to post comments on new articles”.
Optional for “Users must be registered and logged in to comment”.
    Play around on that setting.

About displaying the author & timestamp, maybe it’s on theme setting.
Try go to [Appereance > Customize]
you may find the theme settings there.
Or maybe your theme already have custom menu setting in admin area.

Well.. that’s just my hint ;D

    Good luck.

Thanks for a quick reply. I’ve tried enabling the “Allow people to post comments on new articles” and there’s still nothing. Have toyed around in there but I can’t seem to get anything to work. I also can’t see anything on the theme setting with regards to a timestamp, I was hoping that there might be a widget – all the articles I find on similar things contain code which is quite over my head.

Should have gone with a default template ??

Woohoo! Managed to enable comments by going to “all posts –> quick edit” and then checking “allow comments”. Looks untidy at the moment but I can polish that up at a later date.

Now to enable timestamp and author … cannot work that out at all!

Please aware with option “Users must be registered and logged in to comment “
That’s make visitor must be register first to be able leave a comment.
You may turn off that option if you want anybody can leave a comment by fill their name and email address.

You may search in plugin directory if you interested with facebook/discuss comment to replace default wp-comment. ??

About timestamp and author… sorry can’t help any futher ??

Thanks for your help – much appreciated!

If there’s anyone who can help with regards to timestamp and the author, any advice would be very welcome! If it helps, I’m using the Tesseract theme by Tyler Moore and I can’t see anything in his instructions about a blog page.

And now my comment boxes have disappeared! I don’t understand what’s going on at all. Any help really appreciated, it’s driving me nuts!
