Blog and dashboard load extremely slow

Since yesterday we have been experiencing very bad lags for both blog and dashboard, from several different computers, providers, browsers and even continents. We did not do any updates or install new plugins.

Does anybody else experience this? And if so, what the heck can we do to speed things up again?
