• Hello, I have spent hours wasting time, all because I believe version 5.6 removed “Blocks” editor from the dash board vertical menu bar on the left. How do I get it back??? because it is missing, I am unable to edit parts of my header and footer.

    Kindly help

  • A default WordPress installation doesn’t have any “Blocks editor” in the vertical menu bar on the left, and there’s no built-in feature to edit a site’s header and footer. If you had such a thing, then it was very likely a feature of your theme. And if it’s missing after 5.6 upgrade, then your theme may not be fully compatible with WordPress 5.6.

    What theme are you using?

Interesting, all three of the websites I mange have had the “Blocks” on the upper left vertical row until recently. And oddly, even when I try to edit using WP Page builder I do not see a way to edit the top most text on our about page header, or, no way to edit our footer text either. Even in css editor the “theme footer” link is not there. And when we did have the “Blocks” option it was easy to use and edit whenever we wanted. So, based on what you are saying, and if truth, then its a Theme punch issue, we use their Porto Theme along with woo commerce. I’ll file a support ticket with them and then see who is truthful. all three sites we have, the Blocks option is gone.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

I’ve checked the Porto theme’s documentation…. and the “Blocks” feature is definitely coming from the “Porto Theme – Functionality” plugin which is required and installed by the Porto theme upon activation.

In addition to contacting your theme’s vendor about this, also make sure you’re running the latest version of the theme (which is currently version 6.0.1, released on January 7th 2021), as well as the latest versions of all installed plugins.

Late response to this issue but I’ve encountered the same problem lately and thought I’d share. So, in case anyone else is missing the Blocks option in the left menu structure while using the Porto theme, here’s a possible solution:

    1. In the left menu go Porto > Templates Builder

    2. Woilá! Your Blocks should be located here (at least mine did)

I can’t edit blocks with Elementor.
    I get something like that

@eduleon, looks like you’re trying to edit a Visual Composer demo with Elementor.
You need to make sure you import a Elementor demo.
