    Hi,

after installing and activating MetaSlider (free version), when I try to go to
    https://www.(my-domain)/wp-admin/plugins.php
    I get automatically forwarded to
    https://www.(my-domain)/wp-admin/admin.php?page=metaslider-start

… an hence I also can’t access my plugin backend anymore on the regular way.

I’ve tried to deactivate the plugin via wp_options in the database, also tried to delete the /ml-slider/ folder on my webserver via FTP, but the forwarding still happens. In these cases I get a “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.” error message when accessing https://www.(my-domain)/wp-admin/plugins.php .

Please, how can remove this automatic forwarding to metaslider-start and restore normal functioning of WP?

    Thanks and kind regards
    Franz

P.S. no issues in WPs site health, I also tested with all other plugins deactivated (via wp_options in the database), PHP version is 8.1.27, WordPress version is 6.5.

Hi @fneumeier can you please try logging in and out of your site?

If that doesn’t work, on your database > wp_options table, can you please check if there’s an option_name value metaslider_activate if there is one, please try deleting it.

    Hi,

yes, I’ve tried to log out and log in again, to no avail.

The plugin is fully uninstalled, there are no traces of it in the database either. But the forwarding still happens. I can rech the plugin management backend via the URL …./wp-admin/plugins.php?plugin_status=all , but …./wp-admin/plugins.php without the parameter is still being forwarded to admin.php?page=metaslider-start (and throwing the “not allowed” error message).

I’ve tried logging in with another browser – and the issue is gone. So it seams there is some kind of a weird cache for this forwarding. I just have no idea how to get rid of that …

To confirm, there’s no metaslider_activate on your wp_options table?

Please try clearing your site and browser’s cache if it’s working on a different browser.

Hi @fneumeier. Thanks for reporting this. I’m glad to hear the main problem is gone. Browsers like Chrome do have very powerful caches. So you may need to restart it or clear the cache in order to stop seeing this issue in that browser.

Confirmed, there is no metaslider_activate on the wp_options table.

I guess it’s now my part to fight Chrome’s cache …

    Thanks for your support!
