Block YouTube completely (Thumbnails)

    Hello,

    it’s not exactly consistent when YouTube videos are prevented from playing, but a lot of data is still downloaded from YouTube servers. The thumbnails are loaded anyway and that violates the GDPR.

    In the settings I can store YouTube URLs, deciding whether it is an iFrame or script, but how do I exclude thumbnails (or anything from YT)? Thumbnail URLs often start with https://i.ytimg.com/vi/

    Hi,

    yes, [bit.ly link removed by moderator] is a customer website, so please don’t write his original domain, name or other stuff here for privacy reason.

    Just choose “Basic” in the cookie banner, the YT video is not playing but in the network analysis of Firefox you can see a lot connections to YT servers.

    I tried it with and without WP Rocket.
