    Hi there,

I asked to a developer of another plugin if his plugin might cause problem if installed with Wordfence and he wrote me: “Wordfence can block the REST API, causing problems for anything that uses it”
may you please explain me what does it mean and if you agree with this?

    Thank you

  • Hi @teclal,

Wordfence does not block all rest API calls.

It does look for specific characters within a request and might block that, if it’s deemed to be malicious.

This is most common in page editors such as Elementor or TinyMCE Editor – where the user sends raw HTML / JavaScript. Wordfence is unable to distinguish if it’s an XSS attack or someone saving scripts to their server.
