Block support for product pages

Initially, just basic column, header, image, and paragraph blocks as well as a few custom Gutenberg blocks I’ve built using ACF-Pro.

I’m able to build the content out on a regular page, but it doesn’t make sense that I can’t just put it directly on a product page and I can only use the classic editor on the product description.

You could use a theme that supports Full-Site Editing and edit the Product Page template.
This way you can place any blocks on the template you want.

The product itself will still be populated using the classic editor because this allows the theme to have full control of how the product information is displayed on the page.

This doesn’t quite achieve what I’m after. I get that what I want isn’t currently possible. I’m asking if there’s a plan to add this feature in the future.

At present, Gutenberg blocks are not supported directly in the product description. This decision was primarily based on maintaining compatibility and control over how product information is displayed across various themes.

What is the rationale for not supporting it yet?

While we don’t have a timeline, we are actively exploring ways to integrate Gutenberg blocks with WooCommerce, including in product descriptions. You can test it by enabling the new product editor option in WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Features. However, please note that it is in beta and has many limitations.
