Any tips for blocking spam signups to Ultimate Member? Could this be done via Wordfence or Akismet?

This could be done with some simple pattern recognition, to block bad domains or signups with excessive “.” parameters

And yes such accounts do not normally get confirmed but still they could be blocked before getting into the database and sending out emails etc]

<Unsolicited Question> Have you ever had any business from China? Most users are better off IP blocking China and some other nefarious countries.</>

    Hi Boris,

    1) please ignore the comment about other plugins, I’m just asking about people’s experience with Ultimate Member or any functionality which I may have overlooked.

    2) China: I’m not Chinese but I do currently live in Shanghai, China: China has over 700 million internet users, that’s around 25% of the entire world population of internet users and more than double the entire population of the USA. Internet is taken for granted though traditional web sites are maybe becoming less essential as most small to medium businesses would have WeChat pages with the capabilities of membership and payment processing.

I’ve currently only used Ultimate Member on an unfunded local .org site as a spare time activity so not a lot of development time for it but the tool seems quite commendable so far. If I haven’t posted a positive review yet I should.

Freshwater makes up a very small fraction of all water on the planet. While nearly 70 percent of the world is covered by water, only 2.5 percent of it is fresh. The rest is saline and ocean-based. That’s what China and the people there are to most business websites in the Western world. Yeah, you get some biz, but at what price?

Most of the DDoS attacks, fraud, scams and pornography comes from Asia and Africa, so for WordPress users it’s not worth the risk as it outweighs any benefits.

Any tips for blocking spam signups to Ultimate Member?

I have been experiencing some degree of success by adding email address match confirmation (similar to password), telephone number and agree-to-terms checkbox required fields. I haven’t had any spam signups in months, but then again, I don’t have zillions of visitors per day, so I maybe living in a fool’s paradise.

borisv… adding email address match conformation… how did you add this?
