• Hi there, I’ve been trying for a couple of days to change a standard block that I’ve created into an inline block. The problem I have is that I can’t find any documentation on this or example code. I’ve reviewed the pull requests from when this feature was added but the function used in that code registerInlineBlockType does not exist in WP5.0 so I’m drawing a blank. Am I missing something, is there anything to let me know how to do this?

  • I was just reading about a similar question asked in Slack #core-editor.

The inline block API is long gone. There was also no documentation on it as far as I know, it was something experimental. The Format API can do the same thing.
You can insert objects e.g. images, or format existing text. Anything else will be a bit tougher. If what you’re trying to do seems not possible, please make an issue and I’ll look at it.

I have some documentation in the works. In the meantime you can have a look at the @wordpress/format-library package.

Yes, I’ll need to look at that, not entirely sure it will do what I’m looking for.
