I don’t recognize Blix though ??

For some few pages I was amazed at the big white space, taking up much of the browser real estate. The I suddenly saw the light – your fine header image.
My computer may be slow but my bandwidth is fair. Maybe you should consider tuning the image down a bit. It’s at 183 kb – not huge but big.

I would very much advice against making it a GIF.
The GIF compression works best on an image with few and contiguous colors, and your header image has fine variations in colors all over.

The JPEG format is much better in this situation, but you could try different compression levels, and maybe reduce the number of colors (nominally ) used.

But don’t sacrifice the the beauty of the picture.

Brrr too scary for me. But probably sort of Ok in it’s sorts. The picture is nice though.
