Blank Website after Successful Import of Previous Posts

So I started a wp blog and made a few posts. I decided to buy webhosting and a domain name. I installed the latest version of wp and exported all my posts and photos. Once wp installed I logged on and imported all my previously exported posts. Everything went through, all posts and pictures are now there on the new wpblog, however when I click “Visit Site” to see my website its blank and the tab reads “this site is under development”. I’m sure my posts are there somewhere because if I type in the full web URL of my newly purchased domain along with the post specific permalink, the individual post comes up. The problem is when I’m trying to see my latest posts on the home page, there is nothing. Did I miss any steps ?
