  • Hi,

It sounds like you’re running out of resources when a process is running. Could you turn WP_DEBUG to true in your wp-config.php and see if there’s an error on the blank screen?

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

    Hi,

I am having the same issue. I have turn WP_debug on and this is the error I get:

Any idea whats happening? All plugins are deactivated but ithemes security right now.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 32 bytes) in /web/bridgeway.staging.brainrider.com/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1974

    Hey Catia,

It looks like you’re running out of resources when a process is running. Could you ask your host to increase your PHP memory and max execution time?

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

This isn’t cool though, there’s a memory leak somewhere. I’m getting:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 72 bytes) in /home/eurotr/public_html/qualitrainer/wordpress/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1974

    That’s 268MB!
    My PHP memory_limit = 256M and max_execution_time = 300

    Please help!

Exact issue here. Everything stabilises when I deactivate iThemes Security though.

Running WP 4.0 and Version 4.4.16 iThemes Security Plugin.

    Hi,

I’m honestly not sure this will help, but I had another customer report that this helped them. Could you try deactivating the features below and see if that helps?

    Disable login error messages
    Force Unique Nickname
    Disable Extra User Archives

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

I have disabled those features for now as requested and will monitor for the next few hours.

For your info, activating the iThemes plug in again to set the above immediately caused the white screen error. The error log recorded:

[10-Oct-2014 15:14:25 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /home/sites/thesitename.com/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1974

    Hi,

Continuing to see memory leak issues having monitored the site over the weekend. Now also getting:

PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 25690701 bytes) in /mysitename.com/plugins/better-wp-security/modules/free/backup/class-itsec-backup.php on line 148

Having to disable the plugin entirely as this is the only way to remove the white screen my users are experiencing.

    Thanks,

    Gary

    Hey Gary,

    Thanks for the update.

It looks like it’s running out of resources when trying to run a backup. Could you see if your host can increase you PHP memory and max execution time? I know you can do this locally, but some host put limits on this so the change really doesn’t take place.

    Thanks,

    Gerroald

I have been getting this error too starting about 3 weeks ago?, and still am. I increased php.ini memory to 64mb, that seemed to help for two weeks, but now the problem has re-occured.
Any new info on this issue?
I get the error trying to go to my login page that I customized via ithemes…so now I cannot get into my site at all as an admin. But since the site itself seems to be running when not trying to login, I am leaving it as is for now.

phpinfo temporarily available for this error at: https://the82project.org/testphp.php

Hello, any updates on this issue? I am having the same error (blank page) with this plugin installed. If i deactivate it the problem disapears.

I turned on wp_debug and searched for the error logs, but except for some notices, I haven’t found any fatal arror (nor concering memory allowance).

    Thanks for your help…

I am still monitoring the issues but what does seem to have worked for me is to turn off WP Better Security automatic back up option. This was using considerable server resource and causing memory issues.

verkko: thank you for your help, it seems it helped me too. It’s strange, I had the backup set on 30 days.

    Anyway, thanks for your help!

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of home/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1974

I believe I have the same problem

    Gary, Thank you!

I have been frustrated by the same problem for months now.

Once I turned off my scheduled backup in WP Better Security I am white screen and Fatal error free.

One question, could you tell me how you could tell WP Better Security backup was using considerable server resources and causing memory issues?

    Many thanks,

    Nick
