Blank Screen of Death

    Ok, I’ve only been using wordpress for about two days, but I have plenty of coding experience so it has been to painful a learning curve. But I’ve found a problem with activating new themes.

    First I copied the twentyten them and made some adjustments, uploaded, did a preview, displayed fine in the preview, but when its activated I just get a blank page.

    So I thought it might have been one of my changes. So I then copied off the twentyten them again, renamed the folder twentytentwo, zipped it, uploaded it and the same problem as before. It previews fine, but when activated I just get a blank screen. I can go back to the original twentyten no probs but don’t seem to able to activate anything new. I have no plugins running.

    Can anybody help???

  • Are you using the same theme files i.e. CSS files from the twenty ten theme? You can’t use same theme names and files, you need to make everything new or the system will be confused why multiple themes have same name (controlled in the commented header of style.CSS).

    Also, try disabling any plugins you have, esp cache plugins.

    Thank you sir, you are a life saver! I think installing a theme with the same styles nackered my installation, as I couldn’t get anything to work. So I reinstalled wordpress and copied the renamed theme across and all is good!
