• After updating WP to version 5.8 it shows blank screen on “edit post/page” and “new post/page”/
I installed “WP Downgrade’ plugin and downgraded the WP version back to 5.7.2.
Now in desktop it works again.
But in mobile it still shows blank screen in those pages.
I saw on Google that i’m probably not the only one with this bug, but couldn’t find the solution.
    Thanks

Excellent @digbymaass glad that worked out!

@orenlebbo First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

@macmanx I really appreciate you’re help but I see people reporting this bug all around, so it doesn’t seem to a be problem with my browsers.
Again thanks for your help though ??

The “bug” you’re referring to is behavior that crops up from a variety of third-party conflicts. In my 17 years of experience doing this, 95% of the time it’s either a plugin, theme, browser extension, or outdated browser.

In this thread alone, someone else fixed it by updating their browser.

Personally, I’m having absolutely no issue with WordPress 5.8.

So, please take the time to rule-out your browser and extensions by following the steps in the previous reply.

    Hello

Just update your browser to the latest version and it will work.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Just adding my test results, FWIW …
With current 5.8 and no stand-alone editor plugins installed (IOW core 5.8 editor), from a 32-bit Linux box running an older version of Firefox, I got the WSOD after clicking Edit on both Pages and Posts.
From a current Windows 10 computer running Chrome 92.0.4515.131 there are no problems editing.

    Hope this helps.

    I have same problem.

    – post-new/post is working.
    – but, not working like preview and add media buttons and status’s edit links in the editor.
    – Using classic editor plugin.
    – browser is firefox ESR 52.9(Organization rule. cannot upgrade)
    – Not working with all plugins off exclude ‘classic editor’ plugin.

I want to know why 5.7 is OK and 5.8 is NG.

    Error is …

JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 3.3.2 load-scripts.php:5:699
    SyntaxError: invalid property id i18n.min.js:2:8122
    TypeError: wp.i18n is undefined[detail] post.php:2195:1
    TypeError: wp.i18n is undefined[detail] post.php:2201:2
    TypeError: wp.i18n is undefined[detail] common.min.js:2:60
    ….

Looks like the last post on this thread was a month ago… has anything been resolved because I’m having the same problem today? I can click on edit post (in classic editor) but when I click to edit a frame within the editor – such as swap out an image – I’m getting the WSoD.
The site is live so I can’t mess with it. I did download the Health Check plugin and try troubleshooting but it didn’t flag anything.
All my browsers are up to date – I’ve tried Safari, Chrome and Firefox on Mac ini M1 (OS 11.5.2) and Chrome on a PC laptop. All with the same result.
We migrated the site to a new host last week but I have no received any error messages and the site is stable, but not being able to edit dynamic content is going to be a HUGE problem.

Should I step back to 5.7???

I have no solution for this problem but I have similar one. I use Big Gallery WP theme and after update to 5.8.1 version the page is loading all the time.

I’m also having this issue on creating a new page. I tried everything suggested here and many other things. I can neither edit pages nor create new pages.

If I activate the Classic Editor plugin, I can create new and edit old pages.

Unfortunately, I need to use Gutenberg Blocks.

Genesis with child theme. Admittedly, Genesis isn’t my first choice, this is for a client, but this behavior of not being able to create a new page using a vanilla WordPress install with twenty-twenty-one with no plugins is a new WordPress feature, AKA bug.

I had this issue updating from 5.3 to 5.8. I am using a completely custom theme that was built on a Bare Bones theme. I ran the automatic update and when I went into the editor, the page was completely blank.

I tried a different browser (that didn’t have anything cached) and I was able to see the editor again.

I went back to my original browser and cleared the cache. I was then able to see the editor.

    Try clearing your browser cache.

Same problem updating to 5.9, cleared the browser cache and it worked again.
Sometimes I find the F5 key unreliable, it doesn’t always clear the browser cache. Sometimes I have to clear the cookies, I do this in Firefox by clicking the padlock icon adjacent the address bar and selecting ‘Clear cookies …’, or use a clear cache browser plugin.
