    I had several apps showing that they had updates, so I updated them, as normal. Now, all I get is a blank screen when I login to my wordpress page, and when I go to my home page (https://ultimatetwang.com/blog/), all I get is the Ultimate Twang graphic across the top and the title of the most recent post. All of my ads, the body of the post, along with the 4 previous posts, links, etc. are not showing up. I went to my sever site and looked at the files, but honestly, I have no idea what I’m looking for. Any ideas?

  • I see your site – did you get this fixed?

    It is back up; the tech support at Start Logic, where I have my site hosted, disabled all of the plug-ins, which brought it back up. Now, I just have to figure out which plug-in is causing the trouble.

    That’s part’s easy – just turn them back on one by one til you find the culprit. ?? Feel free to report back when you find the cause as it may help others.

    Well, it turns out to be ad injection causing the ruckus. When I went to activate it (it was just updated, today), I got this message;

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘&’, expecting T_VARIABLE or ‘$’ in /hermes/bosweb25a/b504/sl.penncentral/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/ad-injection/ad-injection-admin.php on line 780

    I’m pretty limited in working knowledge of codes, etc. I had no problem with anything, until I hit update on it, today. It’s been making me pull out the 5 or 6 hairs I have left on my head, out.

    It’s possible that it’s conflicting with your older version of WordPress – I see you’re still running 3.1.4.

    You could try reverting back to the version of Ad Injection you were running before you upgraded.

    I was hoping to do that; how would I go about doing that? I tried searching it on the search in the wordpress, but only the new one comes up. I’d love to upgrade to the new WordPress, but I think it’s the php(?)that’s the issue; it needs 5.2, I believe it is, and my provider is still on 4.9.
    Thank you so much for your help.

    I normally save backup copies of all my plug-ins, I take it you don’t have one? Try contacting the plug-in developer and asking for the a copy of last version that works with 3.1.4.

    Yes, you will need PHP 5.2.4 or more recent to run WP 3.2. Have you asked your host if there’s a way to switch your account to PHP 5? Sometimes hosts have both running in parallel and it’s relatively easy to get PHP 5 going.

    p.s. I noticed a similar syntax error reported on the developer’s site which was related to PHP4, but they said it was fixed in the latest version. Maybe a similar error was reintroduced recently for PHP4. Just a theory. You’re probably best to contact them directly at this point.

    I’m bad about not backing things up, I’m afraid to admit. As for the php, I wondered about that, but hadn’t had a chance to contact them to find out, yet, between blogging and preparing a new radio program.

    Was able to upload an older version and woo-hoo!! We are back up to full speed! Thanks again for your help!

    Awesome! My pleasure.
