    Hello,

    I’ve been prompted today to optimize the firewall. I want through the automated process and selected the recommended option (I have checked the server API in the diagnostics, it is LiteSpeed v7.1) and after the installation it says everything went fine.

    However, when I try to access the site via various browsers, all I get is is a white screen on all of them. Only after reverting the optimization do I get it working again. Any idea why?

    Also, my hosting uses cPanel, but I haven’t found a setting called PHP Variables (I’ve seen a recommendation of a custom setup being done through that). Kind of want to use the optimization, but it just brings my whole site down for a while. I have removed the optimization until it’s figured out.

    P.S.
    I had a staging site installed, did the optimization there first and it seemed to open fine. Since then I have removed the staging site and did not dare to optimize again because it might make my site unavailable. Could there be a conflict because of the staging site?

    Also, I’ve noticed that ever since I removed optimization my site slows and sometimes load for upwards of 10 seconds. Usually it loaded in three seconds tops. The site in question is: amaranthinebooks[dot]com

    While waiting for a reply, I’ve tried removing the staging site and going through optimization process again. It seems to be working now, but I can notice that the website is loading really slowly sometimes (+10 seconds), especially in admin/dashboard area. Could it be that the repeated process has caused something that would slow the website down?

    Also, ever since the optimization, I cannot seem to backup the site via UpDraft Plus, it just gets stuck midway. I don’t know if it is correlated, just thought to mention in just in case.

    Sorry for my late reply, I’m glad you managed to get the firewall configured on your site, however, my first step would be to check the server error log file within the time range that you had these blank white pages appearing on your site, the error log files should reveal some messages that would help in narrowing down this issue, perhaps there were some fatal errors due to memory limit that is being hit or any other server resources limitation? that would help in the performance issue you are suffering from right now as I don’t see a direct relation between performance and getting the firewall optimized.

    Also, please make sure there is no error reported in (Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics) page.
