  • Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Thanks Esmi!

I have tried the first two options and have the same issue.
Before uploading again the new files (third option), am I going to loose all the formatting I have already worked on my blog?

    Thanks !

No. Your site’s content is stored in your database – not in the core WordPress files.

Check your DB credentials in the wp-confg-db.php if they are alright.
The best would be if you tried to do

    mysql -u youruser -p

type in the password and check if all works.
