Try:

– resetting the plugins folder by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

– switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

The most recent wordpress upgrade seems to break the database version. Skip to #5 in my post if you just upgraded.

@mzandstra: Will you please stop posting this? WordPress 3.5.2 did NOT break the database version. With every upgrade, there will always be a smaller percentage of users who have problems due to connection & server issues. This does not mean that the upgrade broke anything. Do you see 29 million users in here complaining of these issues? No? Then don’t post things like this.

This solved it. Did a renaming, and then it all worked fine. Named it back to plugins, and it works well now.
