• Hello, fellow Wp-users!

I have used an own wp-installation on a server for about a month, having this problem for about 3 or 4 days. I’m not good at scripts at all, but I’ve figured out that my problem could be php-related.

My problem is that I can’t login to my administration page, because the page is shown blank on my browser, saying: “http 500, internal servererror”. The same thing happens when I’m trying to view my blog at: https://www.a2ktheproducer.se , with only a blank page saying: “http 500, internal servererror”.

I’ve tried this on different computers and different webbrowsers, with the same results. Does anyone know what’s wrong, and help me out with this? I really need this to work! Thanks!

  • Try FTP’ing into your site and deleting the .htaccess file in the root folder of your WP install.

esmi: Do you mean FTP:ing with a client, such as “FileZilla Client” ?

    Yes. Exactly that.

    esmi: Thanks.

My host is in Swedish, so I’ll try to translate as well as I can. I tried to connect with my FileZilla, where the last messages (translated in parenthesis) are:

“Svar (answer): 530 Login authentication failed
Fel (error): Kritiskt fel (critical error)
Fel (error): Kunde inte ansluta till servern (could not connect to server)”

If I’m logging in manually to my host, I may find my wp-installation and all the files in my file manager. Where can I find the .htaccess file? In what folder?

The FTP errors suggest that you don;t have the right login details for FTP. Try contacting your hosting provider for your FTP login.

Once you do log in, the file should be in your WordPress installation folder – which is assume will be the root folder of your domain.

esmi: FTP’ed now. Deleting the .htaccess file didn’t work at all. Both the blog and the wp-login.php links are still blank with a “http 500 – internal servererror” message.

Could it be new plugin that’s at fault? Or a newly upgraded plugin? If that’s a possibility, try renaming the wp-content/plugins folder to something like plugins-old.

esmi: Whoa, you’re a genious! It worked now, thanks! Now it is up to me only creating a new plugins folder, next to the renamed one and figure out which plugin it was that messed the whole blog up! Could be the wpaudio mp3 player which I updated a couple of days ago. Thanks!

The only problems remaining now afterwards is when I’m trying to view the comments through the blog, where I’m getting a “http 404 error”, or when I’m trying to view the older post-links separately, for example: https://www.a2ktheproducer.se/hiphop/musik/bullets-aint-got-no-name or the sub-pages; https://www.a2ktheproducer.se/mixtapes where I’m getting a broken link. Anyone who knows what’s bugging my wordpress?

If you deleted the .htaccess file, you’ll need to set your custom permalink structure back up again.

esmi: I’ve got my permalinks correct already, “/%category%/%postname%”. The links does n’t still seem to work. If you take a look at the different links, such as the headlines and comments on my blog, you’ll know what I mean.

My link-problems are fixed now and works fine. It just took a while while I updated the permalinks. Thanks.
