@abbasj We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

Can you please confirm you are using the most recent release of Yoast SEO version 16.6.1? You can learn more about updating here: https://yoast.com/help/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/

Also, can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.7.2? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. This guide explains more: https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/

If you update to the most current version of WordPress and Yoast SEO, does this resolve the issue?

If you have confirmed both WordPress, Yoast SEO, and all of your site’s other plugins and themes are up to date and the problem is still occurring, we would next recommend performing a conflict check. A plugin or theme conflict can sometimes cause functionality problems, errors, or unexpected behavior from the plugin. If you are unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we have a step by step guide on how to check for conflicts available here: How to check for plugin conflicts.

    Hi,
Thank you for the reply. I have updated versions of WordPress
(Current version: 5.7.2) and Yoast (Version 16.6.1)

Now I’ll run a conflict check as suggested by you!

    Thank you!

Thanks for your confirmation. I looked at the sitemap index again on your website and see that Google Chrome is showing the following warning in the console:

Unsafe attempt to load URL https://royaldentalcare.pk/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/css/main-sitemap.xsl from frame with URL https://www.royaldentalcare.pk/sitemap_index.xml. Domains, protocols and ports must match.

As you can see, Google Chrome isn’t loading the sitemap XSL stylesheet file from the same domain but with a different variant (with and without www on it. If you visit the sitemap index without using the www on the URL (i.e. https://royaldentalcare.pk/sitemap_index.xml), it appears fine as expected.

That said, we recommend you please perform the following steps to have a consistent result all over your website:

    • Mkae sure that you have the correct variant set from the WordPress General settings → WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) fields. It could be either with www or without it.
    • Once you have the correct URL structure settings in place, make sure that you have a proper redirect in place that would redirect the site from any of the domain variations (i.e. from www to non-www and vice-versa). If you don’t have such a redirect (I see that you don’t), you’ll need to reach out to your web hosting provider to have such a redirect in place on your website.

We hope this helps you to get started on how to troubleshoot and fix the issue on your own!

    Hi Md Mazedul Islam Khan,
Thank you so much for the response.

I have just checked Settings, Both WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) are without www
    It appears like this “https://royaldentalcare.pk”

I have a question, should I edit it with www?
    OR
I can place this link “https://royaldentalcare.pk/sitemap_index.xml” directly as it is in Google search console Sitemaps?

In Google search console it appears as:
    Add a new sitemap
    https://royaldentalcare.pk/ ENTER SITEMAP URL

And I have just submitted this link in Google search console Sitemaps.
It gives error: Couldn’t fetch (Sitemap could not be read)

    How to resolve this?

    Thank you
    Regards

I don’t know why this ” appears with the links in the above post, which might be auto-generated.

    Hi @abbasj

Before submitting your /sitemap_index.xml to Google Search Console, we recommend resolving the issue first regarding your domain (if it should be HTTP or HTTPS, and if it should have WWW or not) by following the steps that were outlined in the last response.

You need to ensure that the WordPress Address URL and Site Address URL are uniform, and then you need to ensure that the correct redirects are in place (so that it redirects to the correct version, and that the sitemap would load correctly since the redirects would be in place). We recommend reaching out to your web host for more assistance.

We also have several articles on the Yoast SEO blog that may be of help:

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply, I just checked the Google search console surprisingly today site map status is green, i.e., success.

Special thanks to the Yoast support team especially Md Mazedul Islam Khan (@mazedulislamkhan).

    Really appreciate that.

    Cheers,
