Blank dashboard pages

We have some blank pages in the dashboard, but there is actually text on the pages when you go to the site. I was wondering if upgrading the php and then updating the wordpress to the most current versions might help whatever is causing the blank pages (not all pages are blank in the dashboard when trying to enter, but some are). Or does anyone have another idea why the pages might be blank and how to fix that?
