Blank dashboard and insufficient permissions?

    I have 2 recent problems with my blog- not sure whether they are related, they’ve only occured in the past day or two

    One is that I keep logging into wordpress to find my dashboard is blank, no menu at the side or anything, just the tab for my profile, however when I try logging out and then back in everything seems fine

    The second is that when I attempt to manage options for widgets such as friend connect and feedburner it either won’t let me see the settings page or won’t let me save any changes, giving me a screen saying that I have insufficient permissions to do that. When I visit my site, widgets such as friend connect also don’t fully appear which would be connected in a way?

    I’m the only poster and admin on the site so I don’t understand the insufficient permissions things at all.

    my knowledge of HTML and general website running is VERY limited, please help!

  • Have you tried deactivating all your plugins?

    Have you tried to activate the twentyten or twentyeleven theme to see if it’s doing the same thing?

    I’ve deactivated and then reactivated all my plugins and updated to the new version of the twentyeleven theme but still having problems, is there anything else i can try?

    Just to clarify, you did this . . . deactivate all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    When you do get into the dashboard check users – are you in there twice?

    yes I was registered as a use twice, so that’s sorted that out, I’m going through all of the plugins now to see which one was causing the problem. Thank you!!
