• This problem has been around awhile and has been described in other posts on this site for several years. The solutions offered are all over the place and don’t seem to be successful very often. Why hasn’t a comprehensive solution been prepared, one that non-techies can actually understand and use? Do we have to switch to wordpress.com and pay to deal with this?
My site works fine but in admin I only get the panel of choices on the left and the only one that works is akismet stats. The rest of the screen is blank. I just upgraded to 4,2,1 and get the same result.

Because a blank Dashboard means that a conflict caused PHP to crash, and the cause of the conflict, and therefore the solution, will be different for almost any case.

So, let’s find out what’s causing it. ??

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    Having the same problem.

This doesn’t seem the work. Nothing at all gets displayed when I rename the theme folder.

    Thank you, sir.

Updating everything (the theme and WordPress — from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2), seems to have worked.
