After my server (vps) was upgraded, a couple of people with accounts on my box were having problems logging in to their WordPress sites via wp-login and wp-admin.

They would log in, but only get a blank page with a period “.” in the top left of the screen.

I’ve seen a few other people with a similar issue, but resetting passwords, re-uploading WordPress and moving the plugins didn’t fix the issue.

So I’m putting up this post in case someone else is in the same boat as I have a solution.

When the server was updated, the Apache modsec also needed recompiling or reconfiguring. I raised a ticket with my hosting provider and they identified that as being the problem straight away.
I’m jsut waiting for them to update the rules and it should be fixed.

If I update this thread again then it won’t have worked, otherwise, it’s resolved ??

    That was quick… ??
Update back from my hosting company:

“I’ve updated the ModSecurity rules on this server and enabled a CRON to keep these rules up to date. This has solved the issue you are experiencing and will prevent it from occurring again.”
