• I have been spared the spammers party-fun until yesterday…
i manually deleted all the comments (wow, hundreds of them between three installs) and then installed the blacklist plug.
it did not, at first, correct the matter.
but then i found how you can add URL and other information to the blacklist.
So i promply added the URL’s and Email into my list, and bizang! they’re gone.
    happy-town!
    thank you.
    F.

    =( This really sucks.

From your website cpanel, do you have any management tools ?

    Yes. PHP admin.
I just don’t want to reinstall everything because it took me so long to get to the point that I was! I just can’t understand my my comments are all fux0red now.

esp when I just added plugins and didn’t touch code.

    What I’d do is this:
    – get a database backup.
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/backup/
and keep that file safe. (Backup regularly too).
    – deactivate any plugin you installed that could have lead to the problem. In fact, deactivate all that affect commenting.
    – see if moderation works as it should. (This leaves a small window for spamming, but we need to do this step)
    – if moderation does NOT work as it should, post here.
    – if moderations DOES work as it should, add a plugin – go with Kittens Spam words and Spaminator for now) – then again test for moderation.
We need to work out where the modding has gone wrong, so the way to do that is remove it all, test, add, test and see.
If you can get to #wordpress on irc.freenode, we may be able to help there quicker too ??
    It’s sortable ??

    No. It does not work.
I am at work so I cannot get into IRC at the moment.

Hi: Just a related note. I was going to install Kittens spaminator and spam words. When I went to her site I started to leave a comment (on another post) and it wouldn’t allow me to leave the comment because it said it was spam. In any event, I think there may be problems with it because there wasn’t anything suspect in the post. I decided to go the route of requiring registration. Anything to stop the everyday on line pker man.

think I am at the point where I might let someone on my server to fix this for me.
Then I need someone to figure out how to make a text export. =(

If you have phpmyadmin, I’ll do backups for you, and I’ll try to sort the problem ?
I’d need cpanel and ftp access if that’s okay by you.
