I’ve finally returned to a problem I walked away from some time ago because I’d like to start using the Blacklist Manager: I can’t clear the User Agent field.

I’ve been using my .htaccess file long before AIOWPS and so I already have most of its functionality there. When I installed AIOWPS some time ago I entered baiduspider in the UA field, and then discovered it could not be erased: I deleted it, but when I saved the now-empty field settings it returns.

This happens independently of deleting all AIOWPS references from my .htaccess file: .htaccess is clean, baiduspider remains and returns. I have been able to nibble it back to just the initial “b” – which endures.

My .htaccess file also backs itself up by itself in wp-content/aoiwps_backups, and the only way to delete that backup is to deactivate the plugin, but when reactivated the .htaccess backup returns automatically.

I looked in my database for something that might be behind this phenomenon, but didn’t see anything obvious.

Why can’t I simply clear my Blacklist Manager User Agent field?

Hi saintandrews you might like to totally removed the plugin and install a fresh copy.

    Follow the instructions below.

    – FTP to your host and rename this plugin’s folder or delete it.

    – FTP the .htaccess file to your computer and edit and remove all the code between and including the tags:
    # BEGIN All In One WP Security
    # END All In One WP Security

    – Log into phpMyAdmin and locate the dabase for the website you are having problems with. Go to the wordpress “options” table. Look for the row which has the option_name value of aio_wp_security_configs and delete that row.

    Options table did it. Thanks.
