Blackbird Theme. No homepage since update

  • I updated my Blackbird (Lite) Theme this morning to the new V 1.2.1, and have lost my homepage.

    All other pages are still present and working. The theme options in the dashboard still show all the content and editing – the page simply doesn’t appear. Turning off all other plugins makes no difference. All other plugins are up to date, and the site worked fine before this Blackbird update.

    Any ideas?

    Have you tried to delete the theme and then re-installing it?

    That didn’t work for me.. I don’t know what to do..I called a support at my hosting company to do a database restore to see if that would fix the problem ..initial he said no . he put me on hold tried a couple of stuff came back and said a restore of the database is US$150.00 ..

    I said no..I cannot afford that .. that like the cost of the making a website..Anyone know how to fix this issue of the homepage being gone..Black bird guys should know how to do this but they won’t help for free.

    If I delete the theme (and reinstall), won’t that mean I lose all my content and style changes?

    Nope. All that is generally stored in the database.

    I just had this reply from a chap at InkThemes. They are laying the blame for this problem at WordPress’s door…

    Actually you are using version 1.2.1. Which is available on www.remarpro.com. And according to new rule of “WordPress” we can’t add front page of the theme. We have to show blog page as a front page. That is the reason you are not getting front page.

    However if you want that then you can purchase the premium version from our website https://www.inkthemes.com/

    You will get front page in that version.

    I managed to get mine back

    I went to my last backup
    openned up HRMEDLR.tar
    .
    public_html
    wp-content
    themes
    blackbird
    front-page.php

    copied the code and placed it into my notepad

    went to my wordpress site scrolled down to editor
    in editor BlackBird: home.php deleted all the code (make a copy to a notepad in case it goes wrong and you have to restore)
    Then copied in my code from my backup

    I do not think i will be able to update my site without losing these changes every time though. So if you make a child theme it would be easier. But I have had no luck creating a child theme.
