    Hi,
I created and set up my watermark with a png image, however the image always displays a black background whereas it should be transparent.
Would anyone be kind and let me know what I should do? I must confess I have been searching for days to find the solution. I am really desperate…
Many thanks, help is really appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Fanny

  • I have the same problem. If I put PNG with transparency as watermark, it is either with correct opacity but black background or it ignores opacity and displays it fully opaque. Both scenarios are unusable.

    Hello,

The problem is most likely connected with the version of the GD library installed on the server, which has a bug and cannot cope with transparency. The best solution would be to ask your hosting provider to make an update.

    Hi,
many many thanks for your reply, this is very kind of you!
My hosting provider said that it is not possible to downgrade or upgrade the extensions I see on the hosting. He asks if using “imagick” instead can solve the problem. Can you please let me know?
Thanks a lot for your help and best regards,
    Fanny

    Hello,

Unfortunately, we are not integrated with Imagick.

    Hi,

I have got the same problem. What GD library version is needed to support transparent PNG images as watermarks?

    Thanks
