• I’m a user, not a developer or a coder. So I tried to edit an existing post with four images. On the editor they looked much larger than they do in the post and had pushed the text into a very tall, thin column. So I resized them. I resized them (from what was originally 300 x 150 pixels) to a size that looked better in the editor. I pressed review and, in the post, they had become minuscule. So the original post page had not changed but the view of it in the editor had. What is the point of that? I read somewhere that Gutenberg is WYSIWYG. It’s not, and it shouldn’t be released until it is. I also read that it is the fault of the theme creators that the editor looks narrow. OK, so don’t release it until all of the theme manufacturers know how to prepare for it. The existing editor is poor, but why replace it with something equally poor for different reasons? Images should be as easy to change as text. Gutenberg is easy to install and delete and those seem to be about the only positives I can find. Be careful www.remarpro.com.

    Hi Otto.
    I use the BeaverBuilder theme.

Ah. I have not tried that one.

Themes that have their own page builders and such will likely need updates to work better with the new editor. Many have announced plans to support it, so I’d check in with them and see when they are going to have updates available.

In the meantime, the Classic Editor plugin will keep the current editor around even after the update to WordPress 5.0. You can use that as a workaround until the theme better supports it.

Ok Otto, thanks for taking the time to look into this. Quite a relief after this morning’s testing. I’ll contact BB and see and, in the meantime, look out for the classic editor.

Beaver Builder announced early in the development of Gutenberg that they intended to embrace Gutenberg within Beaver Builder.
