    Hi guys,

I’m not sure if I should post this here, but I’ll try it anyway, perhaps someone can help me with this?

I am using a bitnami wordpress stack to host a ‘family blog’ for using over our local area network. At the moment I make backups by copying the entire bitnami installation folder.

By doing this, am I making a backup of the database as well? If not, do you perhaps know how I can backup the database?

I’m afraid to install a new version of windows because it will format the harddisk and I don’t want to lose our home blog!

    Thanks,
    Jennifer

  • No, you are not making a copy of the database. Do you have access to phpmyadmin? You had run an export from there. If you don’t like, I like WP Migrate DB because you can zip the file automatically. When it asks you what to replace with, just fill in the initial values, since you’re backing up and not migrating.

I’d check out Back WP Up too for backing up the files. You can have it save to a dropbox account with is trivially cheap.

Yes! Andrew, thanks! I have made a backup through phpmyadmin.

And it’s working, just tested it ??
