bit.ly links in Publicize

    Hi! For some reason, in the last month or so, Publicize has stopped using my bit.ly links when it shares new posts. This is SUPER frustrating – particularly on Twitter – and I’m not sure how to fix it. I have WP Bit.ly installed. The social media sharing buttons, also part of Jetpack, share the bit.ly links. I have a separate plugin that autotweets OLD posts and it uses the bit.ly links. The only thing that seems to not is the Publicize autopost share. Any suggestions?

    We’ve recently made some changes to our Publicize module. One of the changes we made was that it will no longer use Shortlinks with sharing your posts on your social networks. Shortlinks were used in the past because URLs used to count toward a tweet character limit, or other social networks “limits”. Now that URLs don’t make a difference in these limits, we’ve decided to share your full URLs instead.

    However, according to this support thread on the WP Bitly plugin forums, they supposedly deactivate Jetpack when sending out those links. So, you might want to reach out to them to see why their plugin is no longer compatible with Jetpack.

    @csonnek is the shortlink button now gone for this reason? I no longer have it. It would sometimes appear after I published posts, not its gone completely. I’m trying to find a way to use shortlinks again.
