Bit Quirky, Unclear Documentation

Okay, so this plugin works. But it’s a bit quirky — maybe ’cause it hasn’t been updated to ensure compatibility with WP 3.6, “Oscar” — and the documentation isn’t clear: does the separate plugin WP-PageNavi need to be installed as well??
The “Description” tab here states that this plugin is built on top of WP-PageNavi, but the “Installation” tab seems to imply that WP-PageNavi is necessary…yet installing it seems to screw up things!
