Bit.ly shortened links quota

    I created a new free bit.ly account that has 1,000 free links. My site has 3,000 existing posts and share buttons display at the top of each post.

    Since entering Login/API key into the plugin 2 hours ago, bit.ly has racked up 567 Bitlinks, which is over 1/2 of the monthly quota allowed. There are 0 Total Clicks showing on the Bit.ly site.

    My question is: Does the Sassy Social Share plugin run as a background task to update all my posts with a shortened link?

    No there is not any background task for that.

    All 1000 of my Bit.ly links were used up in 8 hours.

    Could it be that a link is generated whenever a particular page is displayed in a user’s browser, even though the user did not click on a sassy share button?

    Yes, the short link is generated as soon as your page is visited by any user. How many webpages are there at your website?
