The meta description is showing correctly on google but not on search engines using bing, they show an excerpt from the main page instead.

-The site is verified on bing webmaster tools and I’ve submitted a sitemap.
-From what I can see, the source code (<meta name=”description” content=”Preferred description goes here”/>) looks correct but I don’t know much about coding.
-polylang plugin is also installed, it shows the right description in google and in bing it shows the excerpt correctly for different languages (but I of course want it to show my meta description instead!)

    Any suggestions?
    Thank you!

We reviewed your page and do see that meta description being output correctly as:

<meta name="description" content="Dive shop located in Kabira, Ishigaki island. Our boat departs from a tropical white beach with small dive groups. Free pick-up from Ishigaki City and Kabira area."/>

Whereas search engines typically uses the meta description from the metadata for indexing, this is not always the case. Search engines will sometimes modify or ignore the meta description when it sees fit. This is not due to the plugin not functioning as expected, but rather is due to search engines using another value for the meta description it indexes as it’s algorithm has concluded that there is a better version to index. We have additional information on this here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/my-meta-descriptions-arent-showing-up-in-the-search-result-pages/. If a search engine is ignoring the meta description you have created for a page and creating it’s own description based off the page’s content, we would recommend creating a new meta description that reflect’s the page’s content. We have an article on how to write clean and meaningful meta description for your pages and posts by following the steps given in this guide. https://yoast.com/meta-descriptions/.

Thank you for looking into it!

My Website is not showing in Bing and Yahoo, as it works fine on google, can anybody provides the solution for this, if you have any idea please help, thanks in advance, I struggled with Web Master Tools but nothing materialized.

    my website is:

    https://countrywisecodes.com/

I too am seeing this with my site. It really appears to be up to Bing with what gets indexed. For the most part Bing indexes the Page Titles, but not always. Sometimes the Meta Descriptions match between Google and Bing and other times Bing will index some copy on the page. The copy isn’t always the first to appear on the page. I had three blurb boxes on a page and Bing indexed the copy from the third blurb. I can only assume Bing evaluated the description and the page copy and choice what it determined fit their criteria best.

I also have the same issue.

Google search engine respects the Meta Description, but BING is ignoring the Meta Description.

The site is listed in BING webmasters, along with the sitemap and all verifications – but still it chooses its own Meta Description (which is a hotchpotch of words that are not entirely appropriate for the first view of the site during a search).

Is there a way to report this to BING? Is it worth it ?
