BIlling for Google Maps API?

    Hi,

    I installed the plugin and I’m having trouble getting it to work. I found some more info on your site about restricting the API keys so that might be one problem. However, you also say I need to enable billing to get an API key to work now.

    I know this is something new from Google but right now I’m just building a site on a testing server and will move the site to the client’s server when ready. I’d love to test out a store locator plugin (such as yours) but I certainly don’t want to pay especially during testing. Is there a way to use the plugin WITHOUT google maps? This may be a stupid question but I ask anyway. ??

    There’s at this time no way around having to enable billing, but they give you $200 free credits every month, which is more then enough for normal usage.

    See this and this post.

    With this new plan, developers will receive the first $200 of monthly usage for free.

    Not having enabled billing is likely the reason why it reached the API limit in your previous post.

    So per the pricing, is the plugin using dynamic maps and just the basic directions? I need to let my boss know to see if she wants to use google maps on the site or not.

    I checked the Google API Console for the wpstorelocator.co domain, and these are the API’s that are used.

    Maps JavaScript API
    Places API
    Geocoding API
    Directions API

    Unless you have a high traffic website the $200 credit is more then enough. You can keep track of your usage in the Google API Console.
