big splash images

I have a large splash image at the top of my homepage that fills the whole screen. Does this plugin do anything to help with that – so that visitors don’t see a blank space at the top of the page until the large image has downloaded? I think some lazy load plugins will load a low res version of the image quickly, then load the high res as soon as it is available. Does this plugin do that, or similar?
