Big save delays with longer lists

Love this plugin but we have a list of around 1000 posts within a custom post type (front end is https://peterloy.wpenginepowered.com/stock-list/). We are finding that when we move a product down – especially when we move it a long way – we are getting the spinning loader for up to 45 seconds before the new position is saved. Is there anything that can be done?
